CARMEN ANPR mobile unit is specially designed to support automatic license plate recognition from moving vehicles. The mobile unit is a purpose built fixed mounted computer for In-vehicle application equipped with a 8,4 inch display. The ANPR mobile unit is designed specially for enforcement or monitoring purposes used particularly on highways having free-flowing traffic. The system can automatically take images of passing vehicles furthermore, can locate and read the license plates from the grabbed images by using CARMEN FreeFlow ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) software. The result is given back in ASCII character codes. The Carmen FreeFlow ANPR product consists of three parts:

1.Carmen FreeFlow ANPR engine
2.Functions' library
3.FxVD4mc_sF frame grabber card (embedded in the mobile PC)

The core of CARMEN FreeFlow is an image processing software module that interprets the content of raw visual data, extracts the important information and converts it into "computer understandable" (ASCII) format within a fraction of a second. The proprietary image recognition and OCR technology of Adaptive Recognition Hungary is embodied in this computer program. The CARMEN Engine provides the ability to read virtually any license plate in the world.
The CARMEN Engine has no Graphical User Interface (GUI) but it has an Application Programming Interface (API) as the Engine was designed to be integrated into applications and to serve as an automatic number plate recognition service.
